After the Demo

It’s been a few years since I’ve demonstrated Alcohol Ink Dreamscaping and yesterday’s demo at Twigs and Leaves Gallery in Waynesville, NC brought back memories. The most vivid then and now is the overwhelming desire in most of us to develop or reclaim our own inner artists.

I had to acclimate myself to answering a multitude of successive questions during the relaxing meditative dreamscaping process. What paper are you using? What brand of ink is that? How do you get your colors so vivid? How did you make that moon? Do you teach?

Often I responded with, “Do you work in alcohol inks?”

Most replied yes and went on to share their experiences, results and challenges followed up by more questions. I nodded listened and began referring fellow alcohol ink artists to my website for more info on my book and instructional videos.

I had hoped someone might be interested in buying a Dreamscape. And one person did.

She pointed toward Dreamscape No. 812, still drying beside me. “I want this one. It reminds me of an approaching storm over the mountains.”

Music to this artist’s ears.

Dreamscapes created during Aug. 20th demonstration.

The next day, I laid out the twenty-five dreamscapes from the demonstration. I signed, titled and added suns/moons in most of them. I’m most happy with No. 825 because of its sense of calmness and the discovery of a new color combination for the sky.

Artists, art appreciators and art collectors: I love you all. Thank you for a fun rewarding day! And thank you, Twigs and Leaves, for making it all possible.
