Poised for Anything

I was so happy with the texture in Poised for Anything when I finished it mid-September. But when I pulled it from the dry rack to varnish it, I wasn’t. With fresh eyes, I saw the texture that I had so loved, was competing with the subject.

I debated for a few days, asking myself if I was willing to lose the painting. I decided to take the risk.

I’m happier with the second version. Majority of the people who’ve commenting on Instagram are too.
